Do you want to share your knowledge with the world? SitePoint is always looking for talented writers to contribute their insights on technology.

Our audience includes developers of all levels, as well as designers. We're interested in hearing from you if you want to write about JavaScript, Python, Rust, WebAssembly, React, Figma, and Tailwind CSS.

If you're not a writer but are passionate about technology, we'd still love to hear from you! Can you submit drafts in fluent English and share valuable knowledge with other developers? Great. We're happy to work with you on your piece (and help you learn the ropes of technical content along the way).

We're always looking for talented people to contribute. Pitch us and let us know what you're passionate about!

Ready to Write for Us?

If you're interested in becoming a SitePoint contributor, the first step is to fill out our pitch form. If we like your pitch, we'll get back to you within 10 business days. If you don't receive a response within this timeframe, there could be a couple of reasons:

  • We reached out to you but our message didn't reach your primary inbox. Be sure to check all your inboxes after a week.

You can also create a filter and whitelist @sitepoint domain in your email provider settings:

Continuing the previous list:

  • The idea has already been covered on SitePoint before. (Please use search before submitting a pitch)
  • The article pitch is promotional rather than informational.
  • Unable to allocate budget to your idea. (You can later resubmit with a lower budget or intention to write for free too!)
  • Little proof that the person you're representing in the pitch is you or a real person. (Unfortunately, we regularly encounter impersonators.)
  • Your pitch relied too heavily on generative AI.
  • The prior articles you've written show heavy usage of generative AI.

Can I Use AI?

AI is fine to use as a tool to assist you in writing or editing content, but it should not constitute the bulk of your writing. If the majority of your content is generated by AI, then the readers are getting the same answers they would've gotten from chatting with an agent.

That said, it's impossible to ban the use of generative AI when it's so prominent now. If you're planning to use it, make sure it's less than 50% of your total text.

You know best how much you've used it. The goal shouldn't be to avoid detection with enough edits but to create a draft that you can augment with your personal insights, thoughts, tips, images, and more.

Pitches We're Looking For

We're always interested in hearing from developers, designers, content creators, and digital makers who want to write about the latest and most impactful technologies.

We welcome any kind of pitches that are tutorials, opinions, what's new/upcoming in ___, tips and tricks, case studies, best practices, informational listicles, and even your open-source products as long as the intent is informational and educational.

Finding a Topic to Write About

Your pitches should also be appropriate for the current time. As an example, it's too late to write about whether AI will be revolutionary or useful in programming, but if you were to write that in 2023 or 2024, then it would make for an excellent piece.

Still, there is always a way to talk about a topic, like if you show something you built with it, give tips, share your personal experiences, highlight both good and bad etc. These kinds of articles are evergreen content that can help others for a long time.

Similarly, a tutorial, guide or expert opinions about a topic we haven't featured before is an easy way to get accepted. Some of the topics we've written about recently include:

  • Front-end architecture
  • Web performance and accessibility
  • JavaScript topics from beginner to advanced
  • Frameworks like React, Vue, Svelte, Solid.js, Next.js, Gatsby, and runtimes like Node and Deno
  • Python — from data science to Django
  • Rust, the rise of WebAssembly, and serverless computing
  • Tailwind CSS, Figma, and Webflow
  • Notion, Airtable, and Zapier
  • Articfical intelligence, machine learning, LLMs

No matter what your level of expertise is, we want to hear from you! We're interested in articles for beginner, intermediate, and advanced audiences.

Our core areas are:

Web Development and Design

  • JavaScript, HTML and CSS
  • Python
  • PHP

  • User experience design and design tools like Figma

What We Offer Our Contributors

We'll publish the best content. We have a rigorous editorial process to ensure that your article is the best it can be before it goes live on the site. Our editors will work with you to make sure your article is clear, concise, and well-researched.

You'll be featured on your author page, have improved search visibility for your name, and be able to link your sites or portfolio in your bio. And of course, we'll promote your article on our social media channels and newsletter to help you get the most exposure for your work.

A Few Tips for Technical Content Beginners

If you're new to technical content writing, you should keep a few things in mind.

  • First, your article should be well researched and accurate. You should be able to back up your claims with concrete evidence.
  • Second, it should be clear and concise—our readers are busy people, so they appreciate articles that get to the point.
  • Third, it's important to be able to explain complex concepts in layman's terms. And to put them together in a way that helps the reader click.
  • And lastly, remember that a little humor goes a long way! We want our readers to enjoy your article, even if it is about a dry subject.

If you can keep these things in mind, you're on your way to becoming a SitePoint contributor! We look forward to reading your pitches.
